Is Spider-Man 4 finally nearing the start of production? Tom Holland gives an update on how much work has been done on the MCU film.
Over two-and-a-half years divorced from Spider-Man: No Way Home, MCU fans have been itching for any news on when Tom Holland will return to the role. While details remain sparse, Holland did give a slight tease that things may finally be moving, revealing he’s currently engaged in creative meetings about Spider-Man 4.
“We have the best in the business working toward whatever the story might be,” Holland explained during a recent interview with Deadline. ” But until we’ve cracked it, we have a legacy to protect,” he said. “The third movie was so special in so many ways that we need to make sure we do the right thing.”
“This is the first time in this process that I’ve been part of the creative so early,” the actor added. “It’s just a process where I’m watching and learning. It’s just a really fun stage for me. Like I said, everyone wants it to happen. But we want to make sure we’re not overdoing the same things.”
It’s certainly fair that Tom Holland and Marvel don’t want to burn the goodwill built up with Spider-Man: No Way Home. Especially considering how rocky many fans feel about the MCU at this current moment, Spider-Man 4 truly needs to knock it out of the park to feel justified beyond how the last trilogy ended off.
The Potential Story Of Spider-Man 4
At this point, it’s clear that even Marvel isn’t sure on what to do with Spider-Man 4. While Tom Holland surely has some ideas, it’s clear the studio isn’t committed to any one path for his character in the MCU. This leaves a lot of room for speculation when it comes to how the plot could shake out.
The main idea many fans have for Tom Holland’s next MCU installment is that he’ll be facing off agains the Kingpin in a war for New York. This certainly makes sense given Holland’s new connections to street level heroes. It would also tonally separate Spider-Man 4 from Spider-Man: No Way Home to prevent having to live up to the spectacle of that film. Though ultimately fans will just have to wait and see what direction Marvel goes with.
Spider-Man: No Way Home is now available to own on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray, Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital HD. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding Spider-Man’s Marvel Cinematic Universe future and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
