Romulus’ Trailer Is Packed With Terrifying Moments

Alien: Romulus is taking the franchise back to its horror roots. The newest teaser for Fede Álvarez’s next project is filled with facehuggers and fear.

Back in 2022, it was revealed that a new Alien film was in production by Fede Álvarez, the director behind hits like Don’t Breathe and Netflix’s Texas Chainsaw Massacre. While details about the project had been sparse, the first teaser for Alien: Romulus proves that fans had nothing to worry about.

The teaser shows a truly terrifying look at a space station. The film, set between the events of the first two Alien movies, is jam-packed with blood and facehuggers. Alien: Romulus is taking full advantage of Fede Álvarez’s action-horror roots, making it the perfect homage to what made the original Alien so special. The full trailer can be seen below.

Alien’s Rocky Horror History

The Alien franchise has always been an interesting one. The first film was one of the greatest horror movies of its time, revolutionizing the way that society saw extraterrestrial life and the scope of horror movies. It also gave fans one of the best horror heroines of all time in Sigourney Weaver‘s Ellen Ripley.

However, the franchise seemed to morph as the years went on. It slowly transformed from the terrifying horror flick that made Alien such a big hit into a glorified action franchise. The series even had two crossovers with Predator, a series that shared a similar fate, where the two monsters faced off like it was Mortal Kombat! (And then eventually faced off IN Mortal Kombat!)

In recent years, though, the franchise seems to be going back to its roots. The video game Alien: Isolation back in 2014 proved that fans were still starving for that traditional Alien experience that Alien: Romulus seems set to capture. A teaser trailer as good as this one spells great things for the franchise.
