Just two days following the uproar over a musician decrying Air India for mishandling his piano, yet another musician has surfaced with a similar tale of woe concerning the airline. In a recently emerged video, the individual showcased the damage inflicted upon his Sarod—a member of the lute family—as the carrying strap gave way during transit.
Yash Nirwan, the Sarod player, took to Instagram to showcase the broken strap of his instrument case. He recounted his ordeal of being charged an additional Rs. 2000 for special handling at Goa Airport, only to find his Sarod case in a damaged state upon arrival at Kolkata airport. Expressing his disappointment, Nirwan lamented, ‘SPECIAL HANDLING LUGGAGE CHARGES,’ my Sarod case was damaged. An extra 2k charged for ‘Over Size’ luggage, even within the free limit.”

He continued, “Other airlines handle musical instruments without extra charges, but here, trust and assurance were shattered. As a frequent flyer for gigs, I’ve never encountered this elsewhere.” He then criticised the airline’s policies and urged them to refund the ‘special’ handling charges.

One user expressed frustration, saying, “Why is everytime everyone complains about their belongings getting damaged at Kolkata Airport ? My luggage was completely broken and it happened twice, take some responsibility KOLKATA.” Another remarked, “This is so disappointing and a disgrace of so-called ‘special services.’ Damage to our instruments is also ‘Not ALLOWED.’”
A third individual recounted their own ordeal, stating, “I paid extra for XL seats on my recent Air India flight and when I boarded the plane, it was just a regular seat. I have been following up with them for 3 weeks now without any response. Nobody should ever fly Air India, had the worst experience ever.”
