Cupra Ateca deals: $10,000 saving with EOFY offer

Cupra’s slowest-selling vehicle in Australia has received a significant price reduction as part of a raft end of financial year (EOFY) deals across the brand’s range.

The Cupra Ateca VZx – currently the only member of the range in our market – is priced at $58,888 drive-away.

That’s a saving of $10,102 over regular nationwide drive-away pricing.

The offer is available on vehicles ordered and delivered by June 30, 2024.

In addition to a price cut for the Ateca, Cupra is also offering reduced drive-away pricing for the Leon, 1.0 per cent financing for the Formentor, and a free interior upgrade for the Born.

The Ateca is currently offered in Australia exclusively in all-wheel drive VZx guise, powered by a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine producing 221kW of power and 400Nm of torque. It’s mated with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Though it only arrived in Australia in 2022, debuting the brand locally with the Leon and Formentor, it’s considerably older than both.

The Ateca is based on the SEAT Ateca, which entered production in 2016 and is closely related to the Skoda Karoq.

In the first quarter of 2024, Cupra Australia has sold just 32 Atecas, roughly a third what the Leon managed in the same period. That means the similarly sized Formentor is outselling the Ateca by almost 10-to-1.

In 2023, 56.7 per cent of Atecas sold in Australia went to rental fleets – the highest percentage of any vehicle sold in our market last year.

Cupra CEO Wayne Griffiths confirmed earlier this year the Ateca will run “until the end of its life”, and will overlap for an unspecified period of time with the upcoming, larger Terramar before being axed.

The Terramar is due here in 2025, and unlike the Ateca it’ll offer the option of plug-in hybrid power.
