Radish production of Hariram falls within the range of 10,000 to 15,000 kilograms per hectare.

Farmer Hariram Sharma, who lives in Nimbahera village in Bihar’s Rudawal town, Bharatpura, has become famous for growing huge radishes weighing up to 15 kilograms. His attempt has created a stir in the local community, with many people visiting to see his crop.

He has cultivated a batch of radishes in his field. These oversized vegetables have garnered significant interest due to their unconventional size and shape. Weighing between 11 to 15 kilograms each, these radishes have attracted visitors from neighbouring areas to witness their dimensions.

Hariram Sharma mentioned that generally, radishes weigh around 40 to 45 grams. But the radishes he has grown in his field are notably heavier and larger. They weigh between 11 to 15 kilograms and measure 2 to 3 feet in size. These radishes are now being sold for Rs 30 to Rs 35 per kilogram.

Hariram Sharma used hybrid radish seeds for planting in his field. The radishes are extremely heavy and require two people to uproot them. According to the farmer, Hariram Sharma, the radish has a unique appearance and tastes delicious. He suggests it’s perfect for making parathas and salads. Sharma credits the fertile soil in the area for consistently yielding good crops.

Last year, traditional farmer Gyandev Netke experimented with a new approach by planting radishes alongside peanuts on his two-and-a-half-acre field. The results were outstanding. A small section of radishes yielded remarkably well, with one radish weighing over five kilograms. Gyandev’s innovative farming methods caught the attention of many.

Radishes grow during the cooler seasons of spring and autumn. They can handle light frosts in winter, but during hot summers, the plant may have small leaves and tough roots. In the northern plains, radishes can be planted anytime from September to January. In the hills, they are generally grown from March to August.

The radish yield per hectare varies based on the variety and the frequency of crops planted annually. Generally, farmers can expect to harvest between 10,000 to 15,000 kilograms of radishes per hectare.
