Writing for season 2 of Peacemaker is deep underway at DC Studios. James Gunn recently took to social media to confirm which members of the cast from the first season would return.
Season 2 of Peacemaker is one of the most highly-anticipated projects in production at DC Studios, the first season being praised as a wacky and inventive show that broke the mold in more ways than one. While fans already knew that Freddie Stroma’s Vigilante and John Cena’s Peacemaker would be returning to the new DC Universe, James Gunn took to Threads to confirm the return of Steve Agee as John Economos, Danielle Brooks as Leota Adebayo, and Jennifer Holland as Emilia Harcourt.
It’s not a shock that almost all of the main cast from the first season of Peacemaker would return for season 2. In the same thread, James Gunn also confirmed the series would be getting a new intro, along with the return of Peacemaker’s pet eagle Eagly. While nothing is ever certain, it already seems DC Studios is set to knock the second season of its only established project out of the park!
The future of the DC Universe
James Gunn and Peter Safran told journalists that their vision for the DC Universe includes locked scripts, wiggle room, and a unified storyline across film, television, animation, and video game projects. The two explained that the DC Universe could bring back elements from previous DC regimes, meaning that their eight-to-year plan is not a full reboot.
Shazam! Fury of the Gods, The Flash, Blue Beetle, and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom have all been released following the announcement of the new DC Universe, all four projects struggling at the box office. Will the characters from those movies make appearances in the new DCU? Only Gunn and Safran know.
