Famke Janssen Plays Coy On Return As Jean Grey

Will Famke Janssen finally return to the world of X-Men? The Jean Grey actress seems to be dancing around a potential role in Deadpool & Wolverine.

For well over a year, rumors have been claiming that Deadpool & Wolverine will feature the return of many iconic X-Men actors from the early 2000s, alongside the obvious in Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine. However, it seemed Famke Janssen wouldn’t be one of them, shooting down a potential return as Jean Grey in the film.

Yet it seems her doubt is far from ironclad. During a recent interview, the X-Men star was much more coy about her potential return as Jean Grey. Famke Jenssen admitted that she already didn’t expect to return as the character after their death, so it’s not impossible she could appear in Deadpool & Wolverine.

“I don’t know. I mean, I didn’t expect to come back after dying as Jean Grey,” Janssen told Comicbook.com. “I came back as the Phoenix [in 2006’s X-Men: The Last Stand], and I came back in flashback scenes in The Wolverine, and then in Days of Future Past.…I don’t know…I doubt it, but you never know.”

How Jean Grey Could Play Into Deadpool & Wolverine

There’s already a precedent for X-Men actors returning in Deadpool & Wolverine, with multiple villains like Aaron Stanford’s Pyro seemingly working for the villainous Cassandra Nova. However, the absolutely packed roster of the movie may make many fans wonder where someone like Famke Janssen’s Jean Grey could appear.

While it’s always possible Famke Janssen could reprise her role as a villain alongside Cassandra Nova, there’s also a simpler explanation. The newest Deadpool & Wolverine trailer teases that this variant of Hugh Jackman let down his world. Perhaps a flashback to that world being destroyed could show off his former X-Men team, including Janssen as Jean Grey.

Deadpool and Wolverine is currently expected to be released on July 26, 2024. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
