‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ Rumored To Feature A Key ‘X-Men: The Last Stand’ Character

As the release date for Deadpool and Wolverine draws closer, the excitement intensifies with new rumors suggesting the return of the big-screen return of Juggernaut, this time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The news of Juggernaut’s potential return was first brought to light by online scooper “MyTimeToShineHello,” who suggested that Deadpool and Wolverine will feature a variant of the X-Men: The Last Stand character played by Vinnie Jones. Details surrounding how Juggernaut would factor into the events of Deadpool and Wolverine remain under wraps for now.

Why Vinnie Jones won’t return as Juggernaut in Deadpool and Wolverine

In an interview with Yahoo Movies, Vinnie Jones confirmed that he will not be returning to the role of Juggernaut in Deadpool and Wolverine. Reflecting on his previous experience, Jones cited the physical challenges associated with the role: “Funnily enough, I just got asked to do Deadpool, the new one, and I spoke to the director, and I just said it’s such a drama putting that suit on. It had its mental toll, as well, because you’re in it and you can’t do anything all day. You can only drink through a straw.”

This wouldn’t be the first time that the Juggernaut character has shown up in in the Deadpool series. In Deadpool 2, Ryan Reynolds himself voiced a fully CGI version of Juggernaut, which allowed for a larger-than-life portrayal that was well-received by fans

Directed by Shawn Levy, Deadpool and Wolverine also holds special significance as it marks the character’s entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe following Disney’s acquisition of 21st Century Fox. The film is set to maintain the R-rating that has been a hallmark of the Deadpool series, even under the Disney umbrella.

Deadpool and Wolverine is currently scheduled to hit theaters on July 26, 2024. Stay tuned for the latest news about the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe!
