The V8-powered Ram 1500 TRX is dead, but out of its ashes rises the new inline-six-powered 1500 RHO.
Ram has officially revealed the 1500 RHO in the USA, as a new flagship of the range.
At this stage it’s unclear if the Ram 1500 RHO will be coming to Australia. We’ve reached out to Ram Trucks Australia and will update this story once we hear back.
This new hardcore Ram 1500 RHO is powered by a version of the 3.0-litre twin-turbo inline-six Hurricane engine producing 402kW of power and 706Nm of torque.
That’s 121kW and 176Nm less than the 6.2-litre supercharged V8 engine in the now-defunct 1500 TRX.
Ram notes the 1500 RHO’s 3.0-litre inline-six produces more power than the Ford F-150 Raptor. The Blue Oval however still offers the V8-powered F-150 Raptor R, which produces 134kW more than the 1500 RHO.
The Ram 1500 RHO comes standard with 35-inch off-road tyres and 18-inch beadlock-capable wheels, large wheel arch flares, dual 5.0-inch black-painted exhaust tips, RHO badging, a power tailgate, and onboard power among other features.
It also features off-road suspension with Bilstein shock absorbers. The 1500 RHO has almost 30cm of ground clearance, 33cm of front suspension travel, as well as 35cm of rear suspension travel.
There are nine drive modes – Mud/Sand, Rock, Baja, Valet, Auto, Tow, Snow, Sport and Custom – to select from, as well as a launch control mode.
Inside the Ram 1500 RHO has a 14.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 12-inch digital instrument cluster, as well as an available 10.25-inch front passenger touchscreen.
Other interior features include a centre console-mounted gear selector, flat-bottom leather-wrapped steering wheel, leather-trimmed upholstery, 19-speaker Harman Kardon premium sound system, dual wireless phone charger, and a digital rear-view mirror, among others.
In the US the 2025 Ram 1500 RHO starts from $69,995 (~A$107,500) before on-roads. For context, the V8-powered 1500 TRX cost $224,950 before on-roads when it was offered in Australia.
Ram Trucks Australia pickups are converted from left- to right-hand drive by Walkinshaw in Melbourne, having been imported by Ateco.
Walkinshaw also conducts the remanufacturing process for the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and Silverado 2500 HD, as well as the Toyota Tundra.
